A Fixed Mindset operates from the belief that you are born with your intelligence, talents, and attributes and so can not be changed.
You believe that’s who you are and that’s your identity. This leads to the desire to look smart, avoid challenges, and preserve your identity.
Whereas, a Growth Mindset suggests that intelligence can be developed and improved upon. This leads to a desire to learn and a tendency to embrace challenges and persist in the face of obstacles.
Why does knowing the mindset you have matter?
Your success in life and different situations depends on the mindset you have.
Our mindsets create many of our behaviors, our relationship with success and failure, and our capacity for happiness.
❌ Do you tend to give up easily when faced with obstacles, tend to ignore feedback, seldom accept your mistakes, and often feel threatened by the success of others? (Largely Yes = Fixed Mindset)
✅ Do you view challenges as opportunities, learn from failure and criticism, find lessons and inspiration in the success of others, and have a sense of your own free will and ability to change your life and circumstances? (Largely Yes = Growth Mindset)
The challenge is that many people have been raised since childhood with a Fixed Mindset rather than a Growth Mindset that supports their success.
So you may need to rewire your Mindset to succeed.
